Madagascar is a favourite in our house. It’s one of the few ‘kiddie’ movies that the adults are laughing just as much as the kids. So we were delighted when ‘Madagascar 3: Most Wanted’ was released…and for added fun, this time it’s in 3D!

After escaping to Africa on their last adventure, Alex (Ben Stiller) and his friends Marty (Chris Rock), Gloria (Jada Pinkett Smith), and Melman (David Schwimmer) long to return home to their beloved Central Park Zoo in NYC and will do whatever it takes to get there. Joined by King Julien, Maurice and the Penguins on the adventure of a lifetime, the road takes our friends through Europe where they find the perfect cover – a travelling circus.

If your family isn’t hyper going into the movie, they certainly will be coming out…and not just because of the coke and goodies they have at the cinema! The latest instalment of Madagascar is full of energy and excitement. The 3D is used to full effect with fun stuff being constantly thrown out at the audience (not literally of course) and the bright colours and various locations look fantastic on the big screen. The energy is infectious and when we went to see it, the entire audience seemed to be really engaged and excited.

While we always find Marty and Melman hilarious, it is the brilliant side characters that provide most of the laughs. The comedy stylings of King Julian never get old (in this movie, he falls in love with a bear…probably the funniest movie side-plot in years). There are also a host of new fun characters to add to the laughs.

The Madagascar storylines always have a lot of heart, making the movies endearing as well as loveable, and this 3rd instalment is no exception. While we definitely recommend you bring the kids to see Most Wanted, we advise you be prepared for some hyperactive children afterwards…because the excitement from the screen seems to be passed on to any little ones who go see it.

Madagascar 3: Most Wanted is in cinemas nationwide now.
