We loved the 2011 smash-hit movie ‘The Smurfs’ so it wasn’t just the kids who jumped at the chance to attend a screening of 'The Smurfs 2' at the weekend. Fans of the first movie won’t be disappointed as the sequel contains just as much adventure, mischief and more than a pinch of that magical smurf essence.
This time around the wicked Gargamel (Hank Azaria) is back and he’s sending the Smurfs on a wild adventure through Paris. In an ill-fated attempt to create his own smurfs, Gargamel accidently creates a diminutive race of mischief makers known as the Naughties. Determined to get his hands on the magical essence of the Smurfs, Gargamel sends Vexy (voice of Christina Ricci), one of the Naughties to capture Smurfette (voice of Katy Perry), who is the only one who knows the spell that can transform Naughties into actual smurfs.
However, it’s not long before Papa Smurf(voice of Jonathan Winters), Grouchy and the rest of the Smurf gang join forces with human pals Patrick (Neil Patrick Harris) and Grace (Jayma Mays) and are hot on the trail of the wicked wizard leaving him to realise his dastardly plan might not go as smoothly as planned.
The Smurfs 2 is a fast-paced, laugh-out loud rollercoaster ride of an adventure that the whole family are guaranteed to love. In fact, the kids loved it so much, they raced straight home to watch 'The Smurfs' on DVD! It's an utterly charming movie that definitely gets the MummyPages stamp of approval.
