Long distance can put a major strain on any relationship, and it can be particularly heart-breaking for a parent and their child at any age.
This is something that Kate Visser can absolutely attest to – which is why she recently decided to drop everything and fly 5,000 miles to be with her beloved mother on her birthday.
Kate and her mum, Wendy Rice, are best friends as well as mother and daughter; and after moving to England two years ago to be with her husband, the distance took its toll on them both.
With Wendy’s 51st birthday coming up, Kate recently decided that a trip home was in order and she dropped everything to fly back to the US.
Oh, and one extra detail: the homecoming was kept a total secret from Wendy.
When Kate showed up at her family home, she hit ‘record’ on her camera and let the surprise play out. As you can imagine, Wendy had the best reaction to opening her door and finding her beloved daughter waiting on the step.
