There’s a reason why so many of us love Instagram – everything is so neat and perfect and posed, and so very different from our own ‘unfiltered’ lives. But what does it take to get that Insta-perfect shot, and what is the reality behind the supposed perfection of an Instagrammer's life?

This is what mum Becky Graham, children’s fashion marketer and avid Instagrammer, sought to clear up with an adorable video featuring her daughters this week.

Becky has gained a legion of social media followers with her posts about her stylish daughters, Harlow and Hattie, and anyone who follows her would be forgiven for thinking that life with her tots is perfect and drama-free.

Well, that is really not the case for the Australian mother, and she chose to demonstrate this with a raw, real, unfiltered insight into life beyond Instagram.

Sharing an adorable video of her girls dancing in her messy sitting room, Becky admitted: “The reality is most of us aren’t leading the life you may think. My life is not glamorous.”

“My house is messy. My kids covered in texta pen. My eldest only wants to wear her K-Mart $7 tutu. My youngest has banana smeared all throughout her hair and clothes. The toys are all hand-me-downs,” she added, as a case-in-point.

Insisting that all that matters is her children’s happiness, Becky urged her followers not to jump to conclusions when they come across a perfect-looking life on Instagram.

“Even though I sit and look through perfect Insta feeds sometimes, wishing my life was like theirs…I stop…I watch my children…and then I realise I am the luckiest woman alive – perfect squares or not. So from now on, don’t judge those squares, just know that most likely their life looks a little like yours....and mine,” she wrote.

It's so easy to be mistaken that within these little squares lives the perfect family, the perfect children, the perfect life. But, the reality is most of us aren't leading the life you may think. My life is not glamorous. My house is messy. My kids covered in texta pen. My eldest only wants to wear her Kmart $7 tutu. My youngest has banana smeared all throughout her hair and clothes. The toys are all hand me downs. But you know what, they're happy. And, even though I sit and look through perfect Insta feeds sometimes wishing my life was like theirs....I stop....I watch my children...and I then realise I am the luckiest fucking woman alive, perfect squares or not. So from now on don't judge those squares, just know that most likely their life looks a little like yours....and mine  #keepingitreal #reallife #pressplay #video #videooftheday #hattiemonroe #girls #sisters #fun #happy #cute #doubletap #likeaqueen #queensofconstance #nofilters #real #raw #keepinitreal #kids #family #lucky #silly #momlife #mumlife #videos #rant #girl #baby #igers #blogger
