Experts are constantly highlighting the importance of bath time safety with babies and young children, and this mum’s terrifying story proves why this message needs to be reiterated.

Mum Suzie Dyball has gone public with the story of her seven-month-old daughter’s near-drowning, in a bid to raise awareness of the dangers posed baby bath seats.

In an interview with The Mirror, Suzie recalled how she was bathing little Felicity when, suddenly, the tot’s seat overbalanced and caused her head to dip under the water.

“I don’t know if it was one or five seconds before I managed to get her out – it felt like forever to me. I put her over my legs and hit her back, which got her to cough up some water, and she started breathing in gasps,” she explained.

Suzie then immediately contacted the emergency services, and by the time paramedics reached her home little Fliss was back smiling again.

She went on to share her story to Facebook, urging other parents to be vigilant when using bath seats and generally bathing their little ones.

“It could have been so much worse. It takes as little as 10 seconds for a baby to drown,” she wrote.

Thank heavens the tot was okay.
