There is never an excuse for breaking the speed limit, but sometimes our busy lives get the better of us and we’re doing it without even taking much notice.

This was what happened to Ayla Dyer Hemeon recently, and she was left shocked and pleasantly surprised by what happened when she was pulled over by a police officer.

Hemeon took to Facebook to share her story this week, admitting that she was on her way to her parents’ house when the incident occurred. In a hurry to get back home so that her daughter Tara could finish her homework, the busy mum broke the speed limit, and was ready to face the consequences when she was pulled over.

“The officer asked me if there was any lawful reason why I was speeding. I just shook my head and explained what I was doing – hurrying to drop off the pumpkin so we could get home and work on homework. He went back to his police car and I could see him busily writing my ticket,” she explained.

However, when the officer came back, he issued her with a warning. It was only when she got home that she realised the touching and kind note the officer had left her at the end of the ticket.

“Thanks for all that you do. You could have spent Sunday alone, but you’re spending it helping your parents and daughter. Have a good day,” the note read.

Hemeon admitted that the incident left her tearful: “This officer made my day.”
