11-year-old Ben Twist was given a heartwarming letter from his teacher after he completely his SATS.
Ben’s mum, Gail took to social media to share the letter that her son received as she said:
“In tears. A letter to my 11-year-old autistic son from his school.”
Ben was diagnosed with autism at the age of five but moved to a mainstream school last year where he has been supported by amazing teachers such as Mrs Clarkson.
“Dear Ben, I am writing to you to congratulate you on your attitude and success in completely your end of key stage SATS,” she said in her letter.
“I have written to you and your parents to tell you the results of the tests,” Mrs Clarkson built the suspense before sharing a very touching message.
“A very important piece of information I want you to understand is that these tests only measure a little bit of you and your abilities. They are important and you have done so well but Ben Twist is made up of many more skills and talents that we at Lansbury Bridge see and measure in other ways.”

Clearly fond of this very special boy, Mrs Clarkson went on to list 10 of Ben’s talents to prove she is one of the best teachers out there.
“Your growing independence, your kindness, your ability to express your opinion and your ability to make and keep friends,” were among the list of things she praised him for.
And she finished by making sure Ben knew how proud his school were of him and his amazing achievements.
“We are so pleased that all of these different talents and abilities make you the special person you are... Well done Ben, we are so very proud of you.”
With a short letter, this teacher brought so much happiness and pride into the Twist home and received glowing praise from some of the 2,000 people who retweeted the letter.
@gailtwist Please tell Mrs Clarkson she is a credit to the teaching profession.

@gailtwist @elebelfiore Wow. What a special school. I live in hope that our vision for what education should be mirrors such an approach.
