Just this morning, model Erin Heatherton revealed that she quit her role as a Victoria’s Secret Angel because she couldn’t keep up with the incredibly high body image standards imposed upon her – a theme which fits in all too perfectly with mum Lacey Barratt’s new social media movement.

Mum-of-three and photographer Lacey has caused ripples online, after sharing a series of candid and raw nude ‘self-portraits’.

As part of her ‘Stop Body Shaming’ movement, Lacey shared an inspiring post about embracing the changes that life and motherhood have brought to her body, and encouraging others to follow suit.

“I have grown three humans. My body has stretched and opened three times to birth them. I have not slept in approximately five years. My breasts have nourished three humans for various amounts of time. I am human,” she said, in a powerful statement.

I just felt the need to say this. As a woman who actively fights facebook and other social media platforms for censoring birth and breastfeeding images....this has bothered me. The double standard of body shaming I have seen because Kim Kardashian posted a censored nudie of her body. WHO CARES?! It is a womans body!! Only difference is a baby isnt hanging off her boob...so does that now make it innappropriate? No way! A womans body should be celebrated, regardless if there is a baby on the breast, or simply because, one feels like it. Lets be very very careful not to have the same double standard facebook has. Neither one of these images are sexual. Just two women's bodies at two very different times in their post partum walks <3 #motherhood #stopbodyshaming #laceybarrattphotography #melbourne #postpartum #4thtrimester #stopcensoringmotherhood #stopcensoringbirth #stopit #juststop #birthwithoutfear

While even Lacey admitted to ‘dreaming about boob jobs and tummy tucks’, she insisted that she will not allow her self-worth to be defined by the clothes that she wears or the often unattainable standards of society.

“Because being nude obviously makes you transparent and the viewer have x-ray vision...You are all beautiful and deserved to be celebrated. To hell with what people think...it's what YOU think,” she added.

She went on to issue a rallying message, calling on other women to join her by sharing their own raw self-portraits and embracing their bodies in all their glory.

What an inspiring woman.
