We recently reported on a beautiful baby who is undergoing surgery after being born without a nose, and now one mum has shared her emotional story with the world.

Danielle Davis has opened up on life as a mum to her gorgeous daughter, Daisy, who was born without eyes.

The 24-year-old revealed that she was first informed that all was not right with her little one during a routine scan, when doctors discovered an cyst on her unborn child’s brain.

While doctors suggested terminating the pregnancy, a determined Danielle and her partner, Andrew Smith, insisted that they wanted to bring their child into the world.

When Daisy was born, doctors diagnosed her with anophthalmia, a birth defect triggered when the baby’s eye tissue fails to form in the womb, leaving its sockets empty. The condition is very rare, affecting just one in 10,000 babies.

Danielle admits that, while she and Andrew were alarmed when they received the diagnosis, they do not for one second regret their decision.

“It was such a shock – we had never heard of it before. But she is our gorgeous baby and we have no regrets about turning down a termination,” she told The Mirror.

Daisy, who is the youngest of three children, is now settling in at home in South Wales and will undergo surgery for glass eye fittings later this month.

Looking ahead to the future, Danielle said: “We want to give Daisy as normal a life as possible and give her the same opportunities as other children.”

We will keep you updated on little Daisy’s progress.
