Police have appealed to the public for information following an attack on a mum and her child in Bridgwater, Somerset.

The mother was subjected to a horrifying ordeal when a masked intruder broke into her home and sexually assaulted her at knife-point in front of her child.

The intruder gained entry to the house between 07.50am and 8.15am on January 21st this year.

Commenting on the woman's ordeal, Detective Chief Inspector Andy Williams said: "We're treating this as an horrific incident in which a mother and her child were tied up and threatened at knife point by an unknown man."
 


The offender left the premises empty-handed and was said to be wearing a yellow high-vis jacket, dark tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.

The man also wore a dark coloured mask over his face and is believed to be aged between 25 and 60.

Eager to reassure the public, Andy Williams went on to say: "An offence of this gravity will naturally cause concern in the local community and I'd like to reassure people that we've got a team of experienced detectives and officers working on the case."
