Hollywood actress, Salma Hayek, who famously breastfed a baby boy during a highly publicised visit to Sierra Leone in 2009, always defended her decision to nurse another woman's child.

Commenting on the matter at the time, Salma said: "I actually think my baby would be very proud to share her milk. And when she grows up I'm going to make sure she continues to be a generous, caring person."

Much like Salma in 2009, doting mum and blogger, Jessica Coletti, has also recently defended her decision to nurse another mother's infant.

While declining to comment on her own child's thoughts on the matter, Jessica insists her decision to breastfeed her friend's son has resulted in a bond she will cherish forever.

Defending herself against critics who have dubbed the practice 'gross' and 'wrong', Jessica explained her decision in a blog post.

"Breastfeeding my friend’s son came naturally to me. I started babysitting him when he was five months old and the first time she dropped him off to me I asked permission to nurse him, since I was already nursing my three month old." she wrote.

Revealing her friend's delight at the offer, Jessica explained: "She responded with an enthusiastic yes, because he was having issues with the formula his previous sitter had been giving him."

Having shared a photo online which depicted the tender moment, Jessica then addressed the issue, writing: "My friend struggled with breastfeeding in the beginning and succeeded for nine months. She was always very happy that her son had the nutrition and comfort he needed while she was working."

"Being able to breastfeed her little boy has created a special bond between us all, a bond I will always cherish," Jessica insisted.

Slamming Jessica and her friend's decision, one internet user wrote: "What … I would hate for someone else to feed my son … so wrong in so many way but that’s just my opinion … each to there own I guess."

While the image, which was shared on blog, Mama Bean Parenting, was met with much criticism, some people were eager to celebrate Jessica's decision, with one woman writing: "Way to go momma! What a selfless gift."
