In an effort to get her mum Renee to quit smoking, Madison Lawson made a deal: If she got 10,000 retweets in a Twitter plea, her mum would stub out her fags once and for all.
A chain smoker for 22 years, Renee probably thought it was a safe bet that her daughter, who only had about 200 followers, would not get much attention.
Fortunately for her health however, Madison's tweet went viral.
Madison posted a picture of the contract her mum signed, with the message:
“My mom has been smoking for 22 years. So my sister wrote up an agreement. If I can get 10000 retweets, she will stop.”
Within 24 hours, her post had been retweeted more than 14,000 times.
Madison updated her followers, saying that “my mom said she's gonna finish the few packs she's got left and then she will stop”.
Hmmm, we're not convinced Renee!
