A trip to your local music store can lead to some incredible discoveries, and one music-lover’s heart was thoroughly touched by what they recently found in the sleeve of a second-hand vinyl record.

The Reddit user took to image-sharing site Imgur to share a screenshot of a letter that hit them ‘right in the feels’. Written by the mother of the previous owner, the letter explains where the record comes from and its significance in the world.

Sabine explains that the record belonged to her son Mark, who died in 2002, of a heart attack.

She writes: “Just in case you want to know where this record is coming from…Mark left us in 2002 – he suffered a heart attack at age 39 while running in the Oregon coastal mountains. The only consolation we have is that he died in a beautiful place, doing what he loved most.”

Bought a used LP. I found this inside. Right in the feels.

Sabine explained that Mark had a very impressive music collection consisting of 2,000 CDs and over 600 vinyl LPs. When she once asked him what she should do with the collection in the event of something happening to him, he simply told her to ‘listen’ to it.

She continues: “Well, I did listen to a few, but now it is time to share them…It is good therapy for me to see this music being shared all over the world…When you play it, play it loud for Mark.”

She adds that all money raised from the sale of Mark’s collection will go towards his son Kai’s education.

What a truly heart-wrenching story. We bet Mark’s music is appreciated even more by those who have purchased it, now that they know the back-story.

SHARE with a fellow music-lover who will relate to just how special this story is.
