Does the calendar deceive me, or is it mid-term already!?

Here we go again, mums! Filling mid-term hours might seem like hard work, especially since Christmas feels like 5 minutes ago! Its back to the drawing board for us parents, to figure out how we are going to occupy our little mid-termers for a whole week! To help you plan, we have come up with a list of suggestions to keep em’ busy over the break!

Make a Quiz!

Heaven knows, your babies are learned in the widely recognised trivia of Paw Patrol, Moana and Star-wars. Make use of their knowledge and encourage some healthy competition by making a quiz. If you trust your brood not to get too hyped up, create a general quiz with varying levels of difficulty. Assigning each kid a unique buzzer noise to use when they have the answer, and watch the chaos unfold! If your little ones are too far apart to compete, tailor the questions to the individual and watch their little eyes light up when they get a point!

Top-tip: Use Momma google for ideas on mini-trivia!

Fashion Forward crafts!

Don’t lie- we all have a tonne of odd socks stashed somewhere. No matter how we try, they go in as a pair and come out single and ready to mingle with the other odd socks! Get your recycle on this mid-term by taking part in a major fashion innovation: Sock-wear

Your little ones’ teddies, dolls and stuffed toys will be stepping out this mid-term in stylish sock-made outfits created by your own mini designers! For a little hoodie, cut the toe off a fluffy sock, and use the heel as a hood with the furry face sticking out the elastic side! Don’t forget to cut ear and armholes appropriately. For a matching hat and jumper, cut the straight ankle part off and add holes for fluffy arms. Cut the toe are off for a little cap and cut ear-holes as needed- too cute!

Day trip, anyone?

There may be a possibility of one good-weather day next week. If you are concerned that a week off will result in cases of digital dependence, it might be a good idea to plan a day trip in the fresh air. Castlecomer Discovery Park is only 20 km north of Kilkenny city and only 90 minutes from Dublin on the Motorway. Activities include archery, zip lines and a tree top walk through sycamore boughs! With 80 acres of fun, this activity park is perfect for the whole crew, and its open all over the midterm break! Visit the Castlecomer website for more info!

Join in the fun!

There will be at least one mandatory mid-term movie night taking place next week. Snacks will include pop-corn (or already-chewed pop-corn for you) and your little one’s chocolate of choice! After the routine rough over what movie to watch - aren’t we just blessed with choice these days- settle down and watch as a family!

More often than not, parents tend to try and fit days of chores into a two-hour movie sitting. The beauty of the mid-term break is that cleaning is pointless! The mess will re-appear within second-so logically, there’s no need! Sit yourself down and relax!

Good luck this mid-term, mommas - and enjoy!

McDonald's is a wonderful place full of fun and imagination, where kids and adults can eat with their hands and play with their food. It’s a place where the whole family can get away from the drudge of everyday life and the only rule is to be happy.
