A website called YouNow has caused concern among the parents of children who make use of the popular site and livestreaming app.

The site, which allows members to create and watch webcasts, is being used by teens to stream their daily activities online.

Footage of teens in their own homes is being uploaded and broadcast by enthusiastic YouNow members for the viewing pleasure of the site’s four million members.

According to reports, more than one third of the site’s users are aged between 13 and 18-years-old, while a further 40% are estimated to be in their early twenties.

Teens' activity on this site sees them interacting with other users via a chat function and uploading footage of themselves in their own homes, with some members even streaming footage of themselves asleep.

If a member likes a particular broadcaster, they are capable of 'tipping' each other with points purchased with actual money, a percentage of which is obtained by YouNow.

Speaking to Yahoo News, Adi Sideman, CEO and founder of YouNow, asserted that the service’s terms of use forbid members under the age of 13, the publication of nudity or other sexual content, and the sharing of personal information.

Multilingual moderators have been employed to ensure these rules are adhered to, but as with anything online, it's important to ensure you know the type of content your child has access to in addition to knowing what they're offering to the rest of the world.
