Following the tragic house fire which claimed the lives of seven children from the same family, New York residents gathered to pay their respect to the Sassoon family.

Speaking at his children's funeral, their father, Gabriel Sassoon, struggled to keep his composure while giving his eulogy.

The grief-stricken father sobbed uncontrollably as he recited the names of his children who perished in the blaze which was started by a faulty electrical hot plate.

Attempting to communicate his grief to the congregation, Gabriel said: "They all had the faces of angels. Hashem [God] knows how much I love them. My kids were the best, but really, every child is the best and most beautiful child in the world."

Overwhelmed by the enormous loss, Gabriel continued: "Those are my seven children. Too many names. There's nothing else to say."

Five-year-old Ya'akov, six-year-old Sarah, eight-year-old Moshe, ten-year-old Yehoshua, 11-year-old Rivkah, 12-year-old David and 16-year-old Elian will be flown to Israel for their burial.

The children's 15-year-old sister Tzipporah and mother Gayle are currently in a critical condition in hospital and are unaware of the children's deaths.

Our thoughts go out to all those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.
