Sadly, it was a case of nightmare turned reality this past weekend, as it has been reported that a woman’s newborn infant was abducted from the room in which they were both recovering.
The Indian woman gave birth to her child on Friday of last week, in the Vandodara District of the country. According to the Times of India however, the one-day-old baby was abducted before the very eyes of her parents, on Sunday.
Reports claim that a woman entered the room of new mum Sarawati Vasava, requesting to take her daughter out to be weighed. Sarawati and husband Anil agreed, however they grew worried when she was not returned half an hour later.
After inquiring into their daughter’s whereabouts, the Vasavas were horrified to discover that their daughter had not been taken by a member of staff, but an imposter,
Local police released a statement after the shocking incident was reported, saying: “This is the first time that a day-old infant has been kidnapped in the district. We have begun investigations. Based on the account of parents, we have even made a sketch of the accused woman.”
