One couple, who wholeheartedly agree and are more than happy to buck the traditional trend when it comes to their relationship, chose to dismiss the diamond in favour of the denticulation when they decided to get married..
In a move which may not be to everyone's taste, Lucas Unger popped the question to his girlfriend, Carlee, and chose to seal the deal by presenting her with one of his wisdom teeth which he had had encased in a silver band.
Taking to social media to share her happy news with internet users, Carlee explained the reasoning behind Lucas' unusual move, writing: "So incredibly excited to marry my best friend, the man who knows that his wisdom tooth means more to me than a diamond."
Having informed her boyfriend that she feels diamonds are overrated, the besotted couple decided to take a different route in a decision which has certainly gotten people talking!
Opening up about the couple's untraditional choice of ring, Carlee told BuzzFeed: "My birthstone is a diamond. I don’t need one to prove how much someone loves me. He’d already moved all the way from Canada to do that!"
In a truly heartwarming summation of her feelings towards Lucas's gesture, Carlee gushed: "What does a diamond signify in anybody’s relationship? I literally have my husband’s wisdom on my finger."
The couple are due to tie the knot in Las Vegas later this year.
