LoveDoctor, an organisation based in India which seeks to provide guidance on issues relating to sex and relationships, has harnessed the power of social media in an effort to offer support to teenage victims of domestic abuse.

Having established a Snapchat account, the organisation is urging the public to make contact with Snap Counsellors so that they can report the abuse they have endured without fear of reprisal.

Acknowledging the isolating nature experienced by those in an abusive relationship, they assert: "Fear of partners, parents, guilt and a weak counselling system in colleges keep victims isolated. All of these factors ensure that teens don’t talk about their relationship problems with friends and family."

An individual who chooses to raise awareness of their situation with the lovedoctordotin account is reminded that the images they share cannot be saved or tracked which thereby offers a safe space for men or women to report incidents of abuse.

"Snapchat is ideal because chats get deleted automatically after ten seconds ensuring your conversations are confidential. So no prying partners!" they remind the public on their official website.

As it stands, Snap Counsellors, which is a collaborative effort between Love Doctor, Chayn India and Rajshekar Patil, is currently aimed at members of the public in India, Canada and the United States.
