While the stars have been sharing some beautiful photos of their quiet Easter celebrations, some families in Sacramento, California didn’t share the same pleasant experience.

Parents have publicly slammed an Easter egg hunt that aimed to break the record for the largest in the world, after it descended into chaos.

While organisers were hoping to break the record in a fun-filled, family atmosphere, children and parents alike were left shocked when the competitive edge kicked in.

According to reports, some parents were witnessed swearing at other children and pushing them over in a bid to give their children an edge in the hunt.

One horrified parent told CBS News: “There was no organisation at all, they all trampled each other. Little two and three year olds were crying. The parents were scooping up all of the eggs for their kids and it was horrible.”

It is reported that thousands of children across the city came out to join the hunt, with more than 500,000 eggs placed for them to find.

In a double blow for the organisers of the event, they failed to break their record.

What madness, to hear of grown adults being involved in such chaotic scenes.
