A new mum from West Lothian, who recently gave birth to twin daughters, was devastated to realise her Instagram account had been closed after she posted two photos of her post-pregnancy stomach.

20-year-old Hannah Moore, who is proud mum to twin girls Lily and Grace, hoped to inspire pregnant women and new mums by accepting and celebrating her new shape and size since becoming a mother, but within moments of uploading the photos Hannah's account was closed down.

Opening up about the incredibly upsetting incident which took place last Wednesday, Hannah said: "Two minutes after the picture was uploaded my account got closed down, my mouth just dropped and my eyes watered."

Hannah was confused to discover that, according to Instagram guidelines, photos of post-mastectomy scarring and women actively breastfeeding are allowed, but the images of Hannah's post-pregnancy stomach were deemed inappropriate by the photo sharing website and were cited as containing 'nudity and violence'.

Horrified that her photo elicted such a response, Hannah admits that the decision on the part of the website to remove her photos has made her think that her appearance is 'ugly, disgusting and it made people feel sick.'

Commenting on the fact that her account had been shut down 'because of violations', Hannah asserted that: "Instagram should be more careful in whose account they delete and look into it further."

Explaining her reasoning behind her posts, Hannah said: "I felt so confident posting the picture showing my baby belly, my belly that carried twin girls for only six months."

A spokesperson for Instagram has acknowledged the incident, but insisted: "It was a technical mistake and the account has been restored."
