In the world we live in today, social media is just something that pretty much everyone uses.

Obviously, that includes parents, and parents who have young children.

While it is completely your business if and how you upload photo's of your offspring to platforms like Instagram and Facebook, we have to ask ourselves - is it safe and should we be doing it?

According to a study by cybersecurity firm McAfee, a whopping 71 percent of parents surveyed said that photo's posted online could "end up in the wrong hands."

When it comes to posting a video ir a photo of their child online once a day? 30 percent do this, while 12 percent revealed that they did it four or more times a day.

A bit excessive, no?

Are we giving away too  much personal information on the Internet?

Gary Davis, chief consumer security evangelist at McAfee, say that, “posting photos and videos on social media is a great way for parents to share what’s going on in their lives with loved ones.''

However, the survey reveals parents are not thinking about how much this over-sharing can affect their children alter on in regards to things like cyberbullying or identity theft.

Most parents post photos of their children on social media, and their children have no say in the matter. Those parents should stop too.

According to Romper, 58 percent of parents in the study said "it's their right" to put up pictures of their children, while half said they have or would upload a  photo of their kid in a school uniform.

What do you think - is posting images of your kids online fair?
