We all know that apps can be a little bit of fun, but you must always consider your audience – especially where children are involved.

While many of you will have already experimented with Snapchat’s new features, you will no doubt agree that some of them are not suitable for young children – and it’s a shame that parents everywhere are not aware of this.

The new filters available on the app allow you to do anything from vomit rainbows and cry a river of tears to turn your own selfie into that of a terrifying demon.

Given how some adults have been left shocked and frightened by the sight of a sharp-toothed demon looking back at them, can you imagine how awful the experience must be for a child?

As it happens, some parents have been experimenting with these apps on their children, even recording their terrified reactions and sharing them online.

As you can see from the video below, this has left some children really traumatised, and people have taken to social media to call for an end to the cruelty.

“I don’t like seeing videos of kids being scared half to death and crying because of the Snapchat update scary face thing,” wrote one concerned Twitter user.

Meanwhile, another commented under a YouTube video, saying: “This is horrible. As a parent my heart breaks for this scared little boy. He is absolutely terrified. Shame on whoever thinks this is funny.”

While the parent who uploaded the video below believes that their son will find it funny when he's older, he's certainly not laughing now.
