Parents in the Suffolk area were not impressed after a café owner took to Facebook to say she would intervene if children were having a tantrum for more than five minutes.

According to the Metro, Kim Christofi, who runs the South Kiosk at Martello Park, Suffolk, wrote that parents whose child was misbehaving had “five lenient minutes to ask the child to stop screaming” before staff would intervene.

The post, which has since been deleted, was screen grabbed by the Metro before it disappeared.

Not surprisingly, people were not impressed; one wrote that her family “including [her] autistic daughter” would never “darken” their doorway again.

Defending her post, the café owner said: “We genuinely care for children, and any child can have a bad day and we’re sensitive about that. The situations I am describing are not children having a bad day.”

“We are talking about children smashing up the toy box, throwing things around and in this situation, we expect parents to step in. We have a duty to all our customers and we are in a public place.”

Thanking those who stuck up for her on Suffolk Radio, Kim said: "We are massive campaigners for the abolition of human trafficking in children in Cambodia and we financially support the NSPCC."

"I would like to thank our supporters and local businesses that have called in to Suffolk Radio and other media outlets in support of this discussion."
