Last week, we reported on the shocking attempted abduction in County Laois, and yet another terrifying story has emerged this afternoon.

Local school authorities have urged parents in the Dublin 15 area to be vigilant, after a child was allegedly approached by a strange man in a red car, in the Clonsilla area yesterday evening.

Parents of pupils who attend Scoil Mhuire Senior School in Clonsilla, where the child involved attends, received a warning message urging them to take care.

The message read: “Following an incident in the Clonsilla area last night where a male stranger in a red car approached a pupil of our school, we are asking parents to be vigilant with regard to child safety at all times. The Gardaí in Blanchardstown are dealing with the incident and taking necessary precautions. Thank you.”

One concerned parent forwarded the text message on to local councillor David McGuinness, who went on to share the message on his Twitter account.

Gardaí have since confirmed that an alleged suspicious approach of a child took place in the area at approximately 4pm yesterday afternoon. They are currently investigating the incident.

At times like these, it is extra important to ensure that our children are well informed on ‘stranger danger’ and what to do if they are approached by a potentially dangerous individual.
