As wonderful as it is to have your child’s party at a special venue, if you are on a tight budget you might consider having it at your home. If your home is not big enough, then ask a friend or family member if you can have the party at their home. This is of course, only if you do all the setting up and cleaning up afterwards.

Another cheap party venue is at your local park. This is weather permitting and if your local authorities allow it. The number of guests you invite to your child’s party is another area where you can save money. Limit the number of guests to suit your budget. If adults are to be included on your guest list, then only invite those who you know will enjoy the company of rowdy children for a few hours.

As far as the food goes, cake, juice and party favors are all that is needed. Take it a step further and, if you are able to, bake the cake yourself. Buying all the food for your child’s party from a warehouse store is another money saver. When a few children get together they are more interested in playing than eating, so elaborate meals are really not necessary.

Hired entertainment is also fabulous for a child’s party. However, entertainers are expensive so why not prepare a list of fun games prior to the party to keep the children happy? Musical Chairs, Simon Says, and Pin the Tail on the Donkey are old favorites, but never go out of style. Have a sack race or an egg-and-spoon race to allow the children to work off some energy. Hide-and-go-seek and a treasure hunt always go down well.

Save money on party favors as well by buying non-toxic art supplies. You can make up an art parcel for each child with glitter pens, stickers, stamps, for instance. If you have your heart set on traditional favors though, then buy them in bulk from discounters.
