It was reported as a Thanksgiving miracle when, last Thursday, missing mum-of-two Sherri Papini was found alive three weeks after her disappearance.

The 34-year-old, from North California, was discovered bound at the side of the highway by a passing motorist.

According to police, Sherri alleged that she was kidnapped while out jogging and held captive by two armed Hispanic women.

Conspiracy theories began to swirl however, with some locals claiming that Sherri’s ‘abduction’ had all been staged.

A rumour has even surfaced claiming that, 10 years ago, Sherri even tried to orchestrate her own fake abduction.

Clearly shaken by suggestions that he and his wife are lying, husband Keith Papini proceeded to release some very graphic details of Sherri’s kidnap.

Keith described Sherri’s torture at the hands of her abductors, and the ‘bruises ranging from yellow to black because of repeated beatings’.

He added that Sherri returned home with ‘severe burns, red rashes and chain markings’ and had been ‘branded’ by her captors.

Addressing the highly unusual statement, local police admitted they were ‘blindsided’ by the graphic divulging of information.

Lieutenant Anthony Bertain of Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, said: “It’s not the first hurdle in this investigation that we’ve had.”

“We’ve overcome many of them, not just in this case, but there’s surprises in all investigations, so this just wasn’t good timing,” he added.

We will keep you updated as more information emerges.
