Parents have been warned time and time again about the dangers posed to children left inside vehicles on a hot day, and so our hearts go out to the mum in this latest story.

According to reports, police in London were called to rescue an eight-month-old child who was trapped inside its mother’s car.

The Evening Standard reports that the child’s mum accidentally left her keys inside her car when she got out and closed the door, effectively locking herself out and her child in.

To make matters even worse, temperatures had soared to almost 23 degrees in the city yesterday, making it the hottest day of the year so far in London.

The frantic mum was said to have contacted the authorities to help free her baby, with Kingston police having to smash the window in to get the child out.

Something similar happened to US actress Melissa Joan Hart just months ago, with the star accidentally locking her young son inside her jeep.

Taking to Twitter after the incident, the mother-of-three wrote: “If you’re not making mistakes, then you’re not doing anything. I’m positive that a doer makes mistakes.”

Thank heavens this little one was okay.
