It was the case that tore at our heartstrings all summer, whereby the body of an unidentified tot was discovered in a plastic bag in Massachusetts. Police appealed for information for four months, and with no leads, the child was referred to simply as ‘Baby Doe’.

However, finally, Boston police claim to have solved the tragic case of little Baby Doe, who has been identified as four-year-old Bella Bond.

According to reports, detectives received a tip-off that led them to a house in Dorchester, Massachusetts. After obtaining a search warrant for the property, police proceeded to arrest 35-year-old Michael McCarthy. He has now been charged with Bella’s murder.

Bella’s mother, Rachelle Bond, has also been charged as an accessory to murder. While the nature of McCarthy’s relationship with Bella has not yet been established, police confirmed that Bella’s biological father has not been accused of wrongdoing.

Police are said to be investigating the little girl’s family, with the case ‘still very active’.

The sad news comes at the end of a four-month investigation, in which police appealed for information using a computer-generated image of the child.

This is such a devastating case. This little girl remains in our thoughts and prayers.
