Police have said that ‘pieces are missing’ from the ‘jigsaw puzzle’ case of a two-year-old girl recovered just hours after being reported missing.

Little Lyndon Albers, from Massachusetts, was reported missing from the family home by her parents at about 7am US time on Friday morning. They claimed to have last seen the child at around 4:15am.

An Amber Alert was sent out by the authorities, but just as they were about to reissue the message, the tot was discovered alive by a couple just hours after her disappearance.

The couple reportedly found Lyndon sitting at the side of a road a few miles away from the family home, naked with her head shaved. They took the child into their car, wrapped her in a blanket and called the police.

Lyndon was then brought to Beverly Hospital, where she was said to be in ‘fair’ condition. She was later transferred to Boston Children’s Hospital.

Commenting on the disturbing report, Hamilton Police Chief Russell Stevens told local media: “We’re trying to put the pieces together right now. It’s like a jigsaw puzzle and a bunch of the pieces are missing.”

Officers later obtained a warrant to enter the home of the Albers’ former babysitter, who has also been questioned by the police.
