25 years after rescuing an abandoned baby from almost certain death, police officer Michael Buelna was reunited with the young man whose life he saved in an emotional meeting this week.

When Michael discovered the premature infant in a dumpster in 1989, he named the child Adam, but has since learned he had his name changed to Robin during the 25 year interval.

Having always wondered what became of the infant, Michael had a chance to find out when he and Robin finally met properly in recent days.

Speaking to the man who rescued him on that fateful day in the 1980s, Robin said: "It's wonderful to finally have met you, to see the man who found me first."

Recalling the incident, Michael, who coincidentally was also abandoned by his mother in childhood, said: "
I moved some of the trash, and I saw the little baby. And I was kind of shocked at first because it's kind of hard to grasp what I was seeing."

In addition to reuniting Robin with his hero, the meeting had an even more profound effect on the young man who was also reunited with his biological father as a result of publicity surrounding the original meeting.

It transpired that Marcos Meza was aware of his son's existence but was unable to locate him, despite extensive research, because his adoption records had been sealed.

Upon hearing of Robin and Michael's reunion. Marcos found himself making contact with his son, saying: "I want to try and talk like father and son, if he says it's okay."

With renewed vigour, Robin also hopes to make contact with his biological mother, saying:
"I don't blame her and I'm not angry or upset with her. And that I do forgive her."

Wishing Robin, who was raised as an only child by his adoptive family, all the very best with his future relationships.
