Our phones are such an integral part of our lives at this stage that they might as well be superimposed to our hands or the side of our faces, which is why sleeping with them under our pillows is a totally normal habit.
However, according to the New York City Police Department (NYPD), keeping our phones on or charging in our beds or under our pillows as we sleep is incredibly dangerous.
Sending out a warning against the habit, the NYPD tweeted a series of frightening photos from incidents where phones have overheated and caught fire.

The series of photos depict charred phones lying on burnt bed sheets, with the accompanying tweet reading: “Don’t put your cell phone under a pillow when sleeping or when charging your device. Please share this tip and [be] safe!”
The tweet has, understandably, gone viral across the social media site, with many followers expressing shock and concern over the potential danger of their habit.
If there is one household rule to bring in today, it should be a ban on sleeping with a phone in the bed.
