Nerves over your vows, concern for your guests and jitters about your first dance can all take its toll on any woman's big day, so the last thing she needs is to have a joke played on her, right?
Unfortunately for 26-year-old Laura Cox. her new husband had some very different ideas in mind when he celebrated his marriage to his new wife.
In cahoots with staff at Crathorne Hall in North Yorkshire, 27-year-old Joe decided to organise an elaborate joke at the expense of poor Lauren.
Arranging a set of actors to play waiters, mischievous Joe directed they drop the couple's four-tier wedding cake during the big reveal.
Understandable horrified by the turn of events, Laura attempted to make sense of the situation before realising she had fallen victim to a very cheeky prank.
Commenting on his quirky contribution to proceedings, Joe said: "It was a great touch to the wedding, Laura didn't suspect a thing at all. Her face when she thought the waiter had dropped the cake was a picture."
"Everyone was in complete shock and thought it had been ruined. Then the waiters burst into song and I started laughing when Laura looked over at me. She then knew it was all a set-up," he laughed.
