Pregnant mum ‘thanks’ thieves who burgled her home in powerful open letter

 

Anyone who has gone through the ordeal of being burgled will know the anger, devastation and fear it leaves you with, and one pregnant British mother has summed up the full range of emotions in a powerful open letter to the thieves who burgled her home.

 

Alexandra Mahjouri took to Facebook this week to ‘thank’ the burglars who ransacked her house, stealing everything from her son’s toys and Christmas presents to precious jewellery given to her by her late father.

 

As devastated as the 27-year-old mum-to-be is by what has happened, she admits that the ordeal has forced her to look at all of her non-material blessings.

 

“I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for taking our televisions, it means we’ve talked more as a family. Thank you for making me realise all the materialistic items you took aren’t worth my tears as we as a family are safe and unharmed and that’s the most important thing,” Alexandra wrote.

 

Of course, her letter of ‘thanks’ is tinged with anger, sadness and frustration, particularly as she calls the thieves out for raiding her four-year-old’s piggy bank.

 

Urging the thief to spend the money on their own kids, Alexandra admits heartbreakingly: “River wanted to buy a sad little boy who doesn’t have any presents something for Christmas out of it. We were due to donate it…That way you're kind of making his little mission come true.”

 

Possibly the most heartwrenching section of the letter is Alexandra’s plea for the thief to return a Tiffany necklace bearing her initial; one of the last things her beloved late father gave to her.

 

“You’ve taken my most treasured possessions that could never be replaced. I feel broken, scared and frightened,” wrote Alexandra, admitting that she is really struggling to keep it all together for the sake of her husband and son.
