As parents, we constantly strive to educate our children, assist them when making choices and hope they will employ common sense whenever possible, but as we all know, we aren't always successful.

When our child goes against our express wishes and involves themselves in something which is detrimental to their physical health or emotional wellbeing, the vast majority of us hope another adult would step in and act as the voice of reason.

Eager to determined whether this would indeed be the case, popular YouTube user, Dennis Cree, conducted a social experiment which saw a ten-year-old boy approach a number of adults to request help lighting a cigarette.

The footage, which has amassed over 800,000 hits since its upload in recent weeks, reminds us that, in our absence, there still exist people who will guide and encourage our child to do what is right when the time comes.

Take a look at this compelling footage.
