With so many devastating missing child stories ending in tragedy, no doubt people all over the world will be sighing in relief over today’s news from South Africa.

Two days after a one-month-old baby boy was reported missing from his home, police have confirmed that the child has been returned safely to his mother.

According to reports, the little boy was taken from his home while he and his mother slept. It was only when the child’s grandmother saw his blanket on the floor, and went to her daughter’s room to enquire, that the mother found her baby’s bed empty. On inspection, the window of the room she shared with her child was open.

Sources have today said that police found the baby after a tip-off from a member of the public, and a 20-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident in Hammanskraal.

A police spokesman confirmed that the baby was taken to hospital for a check-up shortly after, and he was found to be in “good health”.

We can’t imagine how relieved this family is after the ordeal.
