You will be hard pushed to find a country in the world where you won’t bump into the Irish, and we bet this latest big announcement by Ireland’s national broadcaster will delight many of those feeling a little homesick in the run-up to St Patrick’s Day.

RTÉ has unveiled a new app which will bring Irish-language radio all around the world, for the very first time, in honour of this year’s Seachtain na Gaeilge (Irish Language Week) celebrations.

With this year’s festivities running from March 1st to 17th, it called for some extra special features to the schedule, and no doubt many Irish living abroad will jump at the chance to listen to Irish-language content from RTÉ Raidíó na Gaeltachta, Raidíó na Life, Raidíó Rí-Rá, Raidíó Fáilte and many other stations.

The 'An Seinnteoir Raidíó' app is being launched with the support of the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, and forms just one part of RTÉ’s exciting March schedule.

Other highlights across TV, online and mobile include a children’s collection on the RTÉ International Player as well as Irish-language articles and interviews on RTÉ.ie.
