Sexual predator Kieran Creaven has been fired by RTÉ after pleading guilty to charges made against him, the Independent.ie reports.

He pleaded guilty to one charge of attempting to meet a girl under the age of 16 years of age following grooming, according to the Journal.ie.

The 55-year-old put in his guilty plea on Monday, as well for a second charge of attempting to cause or incite a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in non-penetrative sexual activity.

The former sports producer was caught in a sting operation lead by Predator Exposure. Creaven sent messages to a fake profile set up by the group, which he believed to be a 13-year-old girl.

He sent messages grooming the 'girl' and tried to meet up with her several times to engage in sexual activity.

After his guilty plea in the Leeds Crown Court, RTÉ fired the disgraced producer.

"RTÉ can confirm that, as a result of Monday's legal proceedings in Leeds Crown Court at which Kieran Creaven pleaded guilty to charges made against him, Kieran Creaven has been dismissed from RTÉ with immediate effect," a spokesperson said to the Independent.ie.

The judge said Creaven would receive 'credit for his guilty plea'. He is due to be sentenced on February 12.

Until then, the 55-year-old is out on bail and is not allowed any unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16. The sexual predator must also turn any Internet-capable devices over to the British police upon request.
