Russell Crowe and his ex-wife Danielle Spencer split back in 2012 and have continued to co-parent their kids - Charles, 12, and Tennyson, 10 - ever since.

However, according to sources, the Gladiator star is not impressed that Danielle’s new partner, Adam Long, is spending more time with the two young boys than him.

Talking to Woman’s Day, an insider said: “The thought that someone else is spending more time with them than he is – and is slotting into life with his entire family – anyone would feel jealous.”

“It’s never easy to watch someone move on and be happy with someone else, but everyone knows Russell has and will always love Danielle.”

According to reports, Russell, who has cut down on his work load to spend time with his kids, is worried how the boys will be affected by Danielle’s new partner.

“Russell has never wanted them to be brought up in the public domain. He really wants them to have a normal upbringing,” said a friend to the star.

In fact, according to the MailOnline, Russell is even reluctant to re-marry himself because he doesn’t want to “confuse their lives too much”.

Explaining previously that he has “an obligation to [his] kids”, the 52-year-old said that life is already tricky for them as it is without adding anything to the mix.

“There’s life itself, then there’s life as a famous person’s kids.”

Russell has always been quite vocal about his former relationship with Danielle, revealing to the MailOnline last year that he still feel “connected” to the 47-year-old.

Blaming his need to travel for work as one of the reasons for their split, Russell said:"I've loved Danielle Spencer since 1989 - that's never going to change - and that's one of those things where I stare at her and go, "How did this fail?"

However, while he may still have feelings for his ex-wife, Russell is said to be “pretty cool” with the mother of his kids’ new relationship.
