Hearts have broken this week for Sally Faulkner, after it was revealed that she had to agree to give full custody of her children to her estranged husband, Ali Elamine, in order to have the child abduction charges against her dropped.

Ms Faulkner walked free from court yesterday in Lebanon, where she was being held after a botched attempt to ‘rescue’ six-year-old Lahala and two-year-old Noah, and bring them back to her native Australia.

It has since been revealed that, in order to gain her freedom back, Ms Faulkner agreed to give full custody to her estranged husband. While Mr Elamine has agreed to allow Ms Faulkner to visit their two children, it must be in a third country, outside of Lebanon and Australia.

News.com.au reports that Mr Elamine spoke on Kyle and Jackie O’s show on KIIS 106.5 today, to insist that he has not earned a penny from the release of the 60 Minutes crew who accompanied Ms Faulkner.

“I really hope I get something, but my main deal with Sally was dropping the custody – it was all about the custody of the kids. I couldn’t care about Channel 9,” he said.

Mr Elamine also insisted that he did nothing wrong by taking the kids to Lebanon and refusing to return them to Ms Faulkner in her native Australia, saying he believes his home country to be the best place for them.

We’re thinking of Ms Faulkner at this heart-breaking time.
