Two schools in Aylesbury have paid tribute to siblings who lost their lives when the plane they were travelling in crashed.

14-year-old Harry and Felicity, 17, were on holidays with their mum and dad, Fiona and Richard Hewitt, in Canada when the seaplane they were in came down.

Harry was due to start year 10 at Aylesbury Grammar while Felicity was to enter year 13 at Aylesbury High School.

The schools issued a joint statement, paying tribute to “ quiet, humble” Harry and “happy” Felicity.

The statement reads:

"It is with great sadness that we have learned of the loss of the Hewitt family in the air crash. Harry was a quiet, humble and unassuming young man who excelled academically. He was a talented squash player and made a hugely positive contribution to the life of the school. He was due to start his GCSE courses in September and had a very bright future ahead of him. Felicity was a happy member of the school community. She had just completed her first year in the sixth form at Aylesbury High school and had just gained an excellent set of AS results. Her contribution to the wider school was valued by all who knew her. She had an infectious smile and was well liked and respected by all who came into contact with her. Both will be missed by everyone within the two schools and the wider community."

The family were on the last day of their sightseeing trip in Quebec when tragedy struck. Extended family are understandably devastated and are said to be “struggling to come to terms with the loss”.

Pilot Romain Desrosiers and French passenger Emilie Delaitre also perished alongside the Hewitt family.
