A grief stricken, but determined woman is appealing to the Irish public for help after becoming separated from a teddy bear of huge sentimental value earlier this week.

Marie Melody was gifted with Seánie bear following the birth of her stillborn son, Sean, four months ago and is desperately trying to locate him after accidentally leaving him in a Dublin taxi on Monday evening.

Taking to her Facebook page to explain Seánie’s significance, Marie wrote: ”Seánie bear kept Seán company in his moses basket when we brought Seán home and is my little reminder of Seán when my arms ache as I can no longer hold my son.”

Having accompanied Marie on various excursions, Seánie bear unfortunately became separated from her following the VH1 Women’s Mini Marathon on Monday.

Elaborating on the details surrounding the event, Marie wrote: “Seánie bear was last seen on Monday at 5.30pm after the Mini Marathon in a black Titleist backpack bag which was placed in the boot of a 2003 Silver Avensis Taxi on a trip from St Stephen's Green taxi rank to Stillorgan luas stop.”

In addition to the precious bear, a North Face bag, wallet and mobile phone were also placed in the boot prior to the journey from the city centre.

Marie has attempted to jog the public’s memory by giving a description of the taxi driver who took her fare that day, saying: “From memory we think the taxi driver's name was Dalton. A lovely chatty Irish man, early 50's with longish grey hair.”

Hoping social media can play a part in reuniting Seánie bear with his rightful owners, Marie went on to write: “We are running out of options so hoping social media can work its magic. Do you know this man? Can you help us find him and his precious cargo?”

We're crossing our fingers Seánie bear is brought home soon.

UPDATE: We are delighted to report that Seánie bear has been located safe and well, and will soon be reunited with his delighted owners!
