Police in Belfast are currently investigating a house fire which threatened the lives of five people inside, including three young children..
According to police, a house in St. Agnes Place was set alight last night after an accelerant was poured through the letterbox of the private home.
Three children, aged between four and six-years-old, were in the house at the time of the attack, but thankfully escaped unharmed.
Commenting on the attack, Detective Sergeant Melanie McGrory said: "The fire, which was extinguished prior to the arrival of the emergency services, damaged the front door and caused some smoke damage to the property."
An investigation has been launched following the crime, with Detective McGrory asserting: "We are working to establish a motive for the attack and are keen to hear from witnesses."
