A new craze which is currently lurking in Facebook's hidden underworld has caused serious widespread panic among concerned parents.

'Game of 72'  is an online challenge undertaken by children and teenagers which involves disappearing for 72 hours and cutting contact with family and loved ones for the duration of the absence at the behest of their peers.

The shocking activity came to light when a youngster from Northern France, known only as Emma, disappeared for three days, before returning to her family home unharmed.

Despite refusing to divulge details of her whereabouts, the girl admitted her disappearance was as result of being challenged to complete 'Game of 72 on the popular social media website..

While the challenge is not believed to have gained serious momentum yet, concerned parents are determined to put an end to it before any child comes to harm.

Speaking out about the issue, Magali Duwelz, who works for an organisation which aims to combat harmful games for children, said: "There is a real psychosis. We advise parents to check the Facebook profiles and mobile phones for their children. It should encourage them to talk to adults."
