A man in Crimea faces charges of drink driving and endangering the lives of others after he got behind the wheel of his vehicle despite being ten times over the legal alcohol limit.

After making the decision to drive, the man ploughed his vehicle into a young mother and her twin babies as they strolled in a local park.

According to reports, the out-of-control vehicle hurtled towards the unassuming individuals before making contact in a collision which sent the toddlers hurtling from their pram.

Despite surviving the initial devastating incident, one of the babies narrowly avoided a fatality just moments later when the incapacitated driver inadvertently attempted to reverse his vehicle, unaware one of the infants had landed behind the car’s back wheel.

Shielding her children from further injury, the distraught mother lay across the babies while onlookers frantically alerted emergency services.

Commenting on the shocking incident, one passer-by said: “I was going for a walk when I saw this car suddenly go onto the grass and head towards the mum and her children. When it hit them, the stroller went spinning through the air and one of the babies landed very near to the car's rear wheel.”

Opening up about the second shocking near-miss, the witness went on to say: “The driver was about to reverse, but the mother screamed so loudly he stopped. If he hadn't [stopped] he would have surely crushed the baby. She threw her body over theirs to protect them.'

The individual responsible for the horrifying crash remained at the scene of the crime and was found sitting in his vehicle when police officers arrived at the city park in Sevastopol.

According to reports, the infants are currently in a stable condition in hospital.

We are wishing them a very speedy recovery.
