Summertime offers the perfect opportunity for kids to have some fun and enjoy new adventures, but they must be mindful of the dangers when out and about.
This is particularly true of railway tracks, as has been proven in a terrifying new video released by rail authorities in the UK.
The message emblazoned across the video reads, ‘Real tracks. Real life. Real trains’, and is accompanied by some frightening real footage.
In the video, children are seen crossing and playing on tracks, while others are captured walking or running across them. And while some cases show near-misses, one member of the public is not so lucky.
“Think it’s fun to play on the railway, or OK to take a shortcut along the tracks? Think again,” reads the video’s caption.
Statistics reportedly show that, out of the 170 people who have died while trespassing on the railway in the past 10 years, almost half of those were under the age of 25 – meaning that we need to remind our children and young people of the relevant dangers.
