We’re sending huge congratulations to Dublin Zoo today, after they welcomed a female Asian elephant calf on Monday evening.

The youngster, whose mum is Asha, was born a healthy 70kg, following a 22-month gestation period. She was just under one metre tall when she entered the world two days ago.

Dublin Zoo took to their Facebook page to announce their news, as well as share a SUPER ADORABLE snap of the gorgeous baby having a walk around with her mum!

The calf has yet to be given a name, and fans were quick to offer up their suggestions on the social media page.

“Cute! Call her Liath, Irish for grey,” wrote one, while another simple suggested "Nellie"!

Other names included Lilo, Nala, Lottie and Malala – all of which we love!

Congratulations to Dublin Zoo, and Asha, of course!

SHARE to spread the happy news!
