Talk about going above and beyond the call of duty!

Yesterday evening, at around 7pm, the Dublin Fire Brigade came to the rescue of a pregnant woman, and helped her deliver her gorgeous son – in the back of a car, no less.

The fire crews were called to the scene in Whitehall, just before 7pm yesterday evening, in what was quite the exciting event.

A number of fire fighters assisted the expectant mum in giving birth to her son, who was born perfectly healthy.

An ambulance arrived shortly after the newborn's delivery, and transported mum and baby to a nearby hospital.

The Dublin Fire Brigade took to Twitter after the event, to congratulate the mum on her amazing new arrival:

"Congratulations to Mum and Baby boy whom our Finglas fire crew and Swords ambulance helped deliver in #Whitehall earlier this evening," they wrote, sharing the news with their 22,000 followers.

The tweet, which was posted earlier today, has been liked over 130 times - with a number of people sending their well-wishes to the fire brigade.

"You're legends!! Well done!" wrote one twitter user, who was clearly impressed by the services provided by the crew.

Huge congratulations to the wonderful new mum, and fair play to the lads at Dublin Fire Brigade!
