Balancing motherhood and all it entails with the endless other responsibilities and commitments daily life throws at us is no mean feat, as any mum will tell you.
Acknowledging this and deciding to take an alternative path for the foreseeable future, Coronation Street star, Alison King, explains that she has no intention of returning to the cobbles following the announcement last May that she had planned a brief hiatus from the show.
The 42-year-old actress opened up on her decision to leave the long-running show after ten years and made sure to quash any rumours that she plans a return in the process.
Speaking to the Metro, the mum-of-one dismissed the notion she would reprise her role as Carla Connors, saying: "Because they're leaving the door open, I think people originally called it a break and people are asking 'When are you coming back?' and I'm like 'I'm not."
Admitting that her television career has overshadowed certain elements of her life, the former Dream Team star explained that she plans to play a more proactive role in the life of her daughter Daisy who will turn seven this February.
Opening up during an interview with the Radio Times, the actress, who joined Coronation Street in 2006, said: "I'm now going into my 10th year. So all Daisy has ever known is me getting out of the house at 7.30 in the morning and getting back when she's in bed."
Reflecting on the impact her time in the limelight has had on her daughter's day-to-day life, Alison lamented: "I've probably only ever done about 20 pick-ups or drop-offs in all the time she's been at school, which is quite sad."
Despite the fact, Alison remains insistent she has no intention of returning to the set of the Manchester soap, Coronation Street bosses have no plans to kill off Alison's character meaning the mum-of-one has the option of reprising her role should she wish.
