If you've found yourself a little perplexed by the emergence of red postboxes around our capital city in recent days, you're not the only one!

Dotted across the city at ten different locations, these postboxes stand out considerably from the standard green ones most Dubliners are used to, but what are they all about?

Helping to commemorate the Easter Rising of 1916, An Post's GPO Witness History campaign wants to bring us closer to the streets of 1916 Dublin to witness the smaller unknown stories of the Rising.

Beacons for the events they witnessed 100 years ago, these painted red postboxes offer the public an opportunity to learn more about the history of Ireland by displaying a key word which we can freetext to 50100.

And with a few quick taps, An Post are giving us the opportunity to travel back in time to experience one of the stories which unfolded all around us.

Talk about an incredible way to get involved with the city's commemorations!
